Back To Work -- Taxes First
Our weekend of camping is over and now it is back to work. However we have to do taxes first. April 15 is fast approaching and we have not started doing our income taxes. Today is the first day. Last week I bought Turbo-Tax, which I use every year to help make figuring and filing taxes easier.
Yes, we report every penny we earn online. Many ask about paying taxes on this or that online income. There is a “paper” trail on everything you do online. This is especially true when you start earning hundreds and thousands of dollars. If you only earned a few dollars here and a few there, you might get away with not reporting it, but why take the chance. Just report all you earn and pay the taxes on it. You will sleep better at night and will not have to worry when and if you get audited.
We did have a great weekend of food, friends and fun. Campfires into the night and the enjoyment of the outdoors. I did not hear a complaint the whole weekend.
You know all of the things I put off doing, and maybe you too? This weekend I got a reminder that it does not pay to put things off until tomorrow. In February one of our camping friend’s wife was very confused. A trip to the doctor diagnosed brain cancer. Even with chemo and radiation the prognosis is not good.
Every day we think we have a lifetime ahead of us. Actually we do not even think about it, we just take it for granted. The problem is, there are no guarantees. All the things we do not do now may never be done. Our grand plans may just wither. Sometimes because we not longer can do them and other times life just passes on by and we just do not get started.
Spend a little time reflecting on a loved one, friend or respected community member who was lost prematurely. Think about how we never know what tomorrow may bring. Live life to the fullest today and do the things you want to and need to now. Do not wait until “tomorrow”.
