Exercise Mind and Body

While you are exercising your mind, try exercising you body too.  Physical strength and stamina are part of a prosperous life.  I am working on learning internet marketing.  I am also working on improving my health through exercise.

Do you huff and puff going up stairs?  Are you tired just looking at joggers?  As children and as teens we tend to run, jump play, swim and get a lot more exercise than we do when we settle down to the 9–5 work routine.

Last May I bought a recumbent exercise bicycle.  I ride it for 30 minutes every morning.  Because it is sitting right here in my office, it is hard to forget about it.  Because of camping  and an occasional “I just do not not want to” type of day, I exercise on it 20 to 25 days a month.

In addition to the the bike ride, I have small dumbbells I exercise with.  I started with two 7 pound dumbbells and could barely do 30 repetitions of the 4 exercises I do with them.  I am now up to 10 pound weights and do 40 to 70 repetitions.

Just recently, I started doing straight back pushups.  WOW!  I normally do 10 to 15.  It is a lot of work pushing up 213 pounds of body weight.

213 pounds?  Yes, I am overweight, but since May 1 last year when I was 233, I have lost a few pounds just through exercise and watching my diet a little better.  I am not on a diet yet.  Maybe I should be to lose some more weight.

Weight is so easy to gain.  I find that I have been bouncing around 210 pounds for a few months.  I’ve been down to 207 and this week was at 215 earlier in the week.  What do I attribute this to?  Eating out!

Eating out is a treat, so you eat more food and fattier food than you might at home. Even if it is fast food burgers, you eat more than you would at home.  That “all you can drink” soda fountain does not help any.

How about joining me in an effort to become healthier.  Get a little exercise, watch what you eat a little more closely.  Cut out some of those meals out.

You often do better at anything if you have a strong enough reason.  I want to become healthier because I would like to travel the country in our motorhome for a couple years.  Some of the most beautiful places require you to hike or bicycle in to see them.  The healthier I am, the closer to my proper body weight I am, the easier it will be to enjoy the grandeur of our county to its fullest.

Besides that, the world is evolving at such a rapid pace, I would like to stay healthy and see as much of that change as I can.  I want to live a healthy and long life if possible.

How about you?  Are there reasons you can find to change you lifestyle just a little?  I do not mean radical diets, miracle pills and such. I mean making small changes each month, week and day that improve you overall heath, vitality and stamina.  A 1% change per week or even per month will put you ahead of the nation in a year and in five years you will not recognize the person you used to be.
