Jan 18, '05 Frugal Living
Frugal living is often thrust upon us by circumstances that seem to be completely beyond out control. At the time they are totally out of our control and what was easy living turns into a need to scrimp and save everywhere we can. Once you have been in that circumstance, you find that it is not so bad to save a little here and use less there. It turns into a comfortable habit that allows you to utilize what you have more effectively.
Sharon and I have found that watching for bargains, shopping sales, garage sales, thrift shops and online for the best prices has made out money go a lot farther than it might have otherwise. Once in a while we splurge on something that is not so frugal, but in the long run, most of what we do is directed at saving money, make things last and getting by on less.
One nice thing about saving money HERE is that you get to spend money THERE that you might not have had otherwise. Being frugal allows us to get things that we normally might not get. Sharon and I both have nice Sony digital cameras. It makes our Ebay sales job easier since we have to take pictures of our products we sell. It makes pictures of the one year and seven month old granddaughters turn out better.
We went camping for my birthday this year. Jan 1. We spent New Years Eve at a campground.
Even camp fire pictures are fun to take.
