Jan 14, '05 Fun Day Friday
Today is un-frugal day. Because of the rains a lot of our Southern California roads have been washed out. We are going to see "Polar Express" at the Imax theater about 60 miles from here. It will be about 20-30 miles farther because we have to take a long detour to get there. We will make it a double trip and do some shopping at stores we do not have here in our community.
Some of our major roads are creating a lot of hardships because people have to take very long detours to get places. To go 40 miles north of here to Santa Barbara, California, it is about a 230 mile trip. The only way to get there on roads. Those who can get a seat and have the money are taking airplanes to commute and others are going by boat. Charter boat services are ferrying commuters around the damaged road.
Luckily Sharon and I are not affected by these road closures except when we want to make a trip, like today's movie and shopping excursion.
