We Still Have To Move

It is time to get back to work. We still have to move into the new place, so there are things to do that do not involve working.  I am looking forward to this change in our lifestyle.

Change is scary.  We do what is familiar and do not stray far from it.  This means is you are not writing webpages regularly, that is you normal mode.  Changing that is scary.  SCARY?  Come on Bob, that is not scary.  On a conscious level it is not, but in our lives we resist change.  We like a “comfortable old shoe” and try to stay in the place we know and has give us comfort.

Once we make a change that becomes the new norm in our life.  Selling on Ebay or creating webpages for internet marketing both fall into this area.  We live our lives based on knowns and unknowns.  We gravitate toward the knowns and try to avoid the unknowns.  Anything new is an unknown and we often meet a lot of resistance trying to change for the better.

This means that most of us have to try harder to achieve something different.  We have to work at it an apply ourselves until the new thing becomes part of our life and is a comfortable “known”.

Our problem with having to move should have been solved long ago, by simply moving out of this warehouse and into a rented house or apartment.  We got to comfortable living here.  A known.  We wondered about the expense of a rental. An unknown.  We did what was comfortable until forced to change.

Maybe we should “force” ourselves to do more things in life.  Take regular Sunday drives. Start that new business.  Read a book a  month.  I wonder how much life would improve if we really made an effort above and beyond what we are doing today.
