Never Look Back
There is an old saying, “You can never go home”, meaning that things change and home is not what it was when you lived there. It ties into, “Never look back”. However, sometimes you do look back. Today, Sharon looked at a real estate site and found our old house. We bought it, brand new, in 1968 and lost it to foreclosure in 1996 due to being downsized. Right now this site says the house is worth over $500,000.
We live in California with crazy real estate prices. I guess they are crazy all over. As we talked, we said that in spite of our old house being worth over 1/2 million dollars, we do not regret all that has happened to us. “If you get lemons, make lemonade”, is our motto. Yes, it would be nice to have a 1/2 million dollar estate instead of being close to broke, but we would have missed out on so much in our lives if we had been able to stay in that home.
We have lived a mile from the beach. We have lived 5 houses and street from the beach. We have grown so much by losing so much. I think there is a balance in what we gained compared to what we lost.
NEVER LOOK BACK! You can’t live in the past and on what might have been. You can only look forward to the future. Actually, you can only live today and plan for the future.
Sharon and I do not regret losing our home. In fact, we have gained a lot by losing it. Maybe financially we have lost a lot, but we have gained more than we lost.
If we are smart and work it correctly, we can gain back what we lost and more. The internet offers many opportunities for those who are looking for them.
