Saving On Heating
Colder weather is here and we have started turning on our heater in the morning and evening. OK, it is mid 60’s inside, not freezing cold. HEY! This is Southern California! I see many of you are REALLY freezing right now. I do not envy you. I am happy to live without the snow and ice.
Have you seen my page on saving on heating? It is at Home Heating. One tip on that page that we are using right now is turning on a fan. That is right. Do not store your fans until summer. They come in very handy in the winter too. Use them to warm you house more efficiently.
Remember all the stuff we bought on sale that had FREE WITH REBATE offers? The rebate checks have started to come in. It is nice to check off each product and know that it was FREE except for sales tax. Yesterday Sharon bought Norton Virus Protection. It is FREE with rebates if you also buy TurboTax. Since we buy TurboTax every year, that freebie makes sense.
I have a great tip I have been using for years. Get a 2–3 foot wide by 5–6 foot long piece of carpet. Use it as a mat to lay on when you are working under a vehicle. It sure is cleaner and more comfortable to have that piece of carpet under you. It is also warmer than laying on the ground in winter. I was thinking about this because I need to do an oil change in the next week or so.
