Frugal "Fear Factor" Fun
Yesterday morning we learned that Fear Factor was shooting a segment at the Ventura pier. WORK or go see? A real no brainer, so we hopped in the car and headed over to the pier. There was a ramp up off of the pier and at the bottom of the ramp was a 4 wheel quad runner waiting to to go off the ramp.

This was a two person team event. One person was brought in on a helicopter and dropped into the water from pier height. That contestant had to swim under the pier and retrieve a set of keys which their partner hoisted to the top of the pier. The keys fit the quad runner. As they started the engine, their harness was hooked to a line on the helicopter.
As the person drove the quad off the ramp, the helicopter would pull them free and off high into the air as the quad crashed into the water below.

I won’t say how many pairs completed the jump. You will have to watch the show to see. I was told the episode is titled, “Geeks and Freaks”. That may come from the tattoos, piercings and hairdos some contestants had.
