Save Money And Bought Better Stuff

Today we saved money and got better produce by shopping at our local Farmer’s Market.  Store produce is not as fresh or as tasty as that we buy from vendors at the Farmer’s Market.  We are lucky to fresh produce at these outdoor markets all year long.  A lot of it is grown locally.  Strawberries are going strong right now and there is an abundant crop.  Our car smelled delicious on the way home today.

I went to an estate sale today and bought three books that were published in the 1800’s.  Did you know that books published in 1923 and before are public domain and you can use them, reproduce them, and sell them or any part of them without violating copyright laws?  The copyrights have expired.  This means someone could possible make money on the internet selling digital copies of old books, poems or pictures.  You could create a website totally based on a single old book.  There are many possibilities for using public domain literature and art.  I will look these books over very carefully and see if I can generate digital content for my websites or for sale in another form.

This expired copyright law is the reason you see many old books republished today.  Old art work, old poetry books and similar previously copyrighted works become public domain after so many years.  Once the copyright expires, a book enters the public domain and may be used by anyone in whole or part.  Interesting, don’t you think?

The next time you are at a garage sale or used bookstore and find a very old book pretty cheap, buy it.  Take the book home and think about the possibilities it might represent.

Could This Shelf Represent A Small Fortune, IF You Republished Them On The Internet?
