Jan 27, 05 Thrift Stores
When Sharon goes to to the grocery store, or out anywhere it seems to take a lot longer for her to get back than just a trip to the store would take. Well, the problem is we have at least four major thrift stores in the area and a lot of smaller ones. She often comes home with "new" clothes and sometimes other stuff. Actually she does get quite a bit of brand new clothes because she goes so often. I guess I can not complain too much. $2.99 for a new blouse sure beats $19.99. Often the things she get are name brands that are more than $19.99 at the store.
One of our thrift stores gets chopped onions once in a while. They give away a 5 pound bag of chopped onions for free. Take two if you can use them. We are in an agricultural area with many packing houses and processing plants. One of the onion packers supplies these onions every once in a while. Sharon gets a bag of chopped onions and divides the 5 pounds into the small 1/2 size zip lock bags. She freezes most of the onions to use in cooking. Freezing the chopped onions works great.
Sharon's favorite thrift store recommendation is to buy a baby carrier pouch for your small dog. Get one of those carriers you strap on your chest and put your baby in. The baby faces you. Take that carrier and sew up the legs so your dog will not slip out. It it great for small dogs in crowds. They can not get stepped on or wrap their leash around someone's legs. Plus, they seem to be very content riding instead of walking.
